It has been two years since the pandemic and many of us in the business sector are still reeling from the financial setbacks it caused. We would not have survived if not for good planning and foresight and our knack for gradually slashing our overhead costs since the company’s inception. While those responsibilities rest on the company’s shoulders and on the shoulders of its board, there are other significant factors that contributed to our success.
One of the most important is the kindness and consideration of the Duterte administration. Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte reduced our taxes and the taxes of small companies like ours by almost 10%. This came to my attention during tax season when the accounting firm we consult with sent the papers to my desk. The tax cut never made it to the papers but it was and still is a wonderful farewell gift from a President who was to go into retirement a few months later.
We also would not have been able to sail through 2022 if not for our customers and the undying loyalty of our patrons. On behalf of the company, I would like to wish you a happy Christmas and a wonderful new year. This season will always be a time for gratefulness and I am grateful to all of you.
On a personal level, I myself have every reason to be thankful – the gift of family, the dogs included, and of good health, and a deeper appreciation for the love and support of my friends. I wish you all a festive season. May our 2023 be better.
Cheers and Merry Christmas!
