Virginia Blush Price
While there are concerns about the cost of Virginia Blush at the restaurant level, Sissel Salucop, the company’s CFO notes that this is due to the small wine production per year capacity of the brand. “We produce artisan wine and producing it is much more costly than doing it by the volume.”
Sigrid Salucop adds, “We are obsessed with producing high-quality products. This is something that our parents taught us. You have to think of it this way, a wine that costs a little over P1,000 costs around P500 at the winery level. Certain costs on the retailer should be kept in mind here. They have their shipping costs, overhead costs, etc. If a bottle of wine costs P200 or even P150 in restaurants or retail shops, this bottle of wine likely costs P100 or P75 at the winery level. The profit of the winemaker is already included at the winery level price. While it is possible that they produce their wines by the volume and they are saving money from their large-scale production, it is also highly likely that the ingredients used are not of the quality that Basi del Diablo Wines requires.”
