Many have asked us why we make wine in a country where local products rarely thrive. We can supply a number of answers but the most important answer of all is in the picture posted along with this message.
You see a photo of the Philippine countryside – that part of the country where Basi Del Diablo comes from. It’s beautiful no matter how simple it looks. And it is home.
We love the Philippines and it has always been our aim to contribute to rural development because that is where most Filipinos come from -not the busy streets of Manila.
We love Manila, the Philippine capital, just the same but for us to contribute to the country’s heart, we must supply lifeblood into its many veins.
So why do we make wine? We make wine to bring money to the rural areas where we get our materials. We make wine to produce products every Filipino can be proud of. Sure we make wine for profit too, we all gotta eat but at the core of it all,we make sugarcane wine because of our love for this country and its heritage.
